Summer 2008, part one

Okay, okay- I know I have been MIA as far as blogging goes. It has been such a crazy, busy summer with holidays, swimming lessons, gymnastics, and building our home. I am going to attempt to update everyone on our eventful summer with lots of pictures, minimal writing.

Girls camp

I, Amy Tebbs, survived girls camp. Need I say more?

My tent

Believe it or not, I actually had a great time at girls camp. It definitely wasn't the Ritz Carlton, but what should I have expected right? I am sure it was quite the sight to see me bundled up at night in thermals, fleece pajamas, two pairs of thick socks, a ski cap (to prevent bugs from crawling in my ears while asleep), a hoodie sweatshirt (with the hoodie up and cinched tight), and thick Cabella's gloves. Oh, and don't forget the huge air mattress equipped with three fleece blankets and a VERY warm sleeping bag. I was snug as a bug. Dorky, I know, and some of you may be thinking (especially my mom), "You must have roasted in your tent! You're crazy!", but I was actually the perfect temperature. I freeze at night, even at home, so I came prepared to stay warm. All in all (minus the spiders, bees, ticks and dive bombing moths at night), I had such a wonderful time with all of the amazing girls and leaders. Glad to be home for a nice shower and soft bed though.

Butter

We will all miss you Butter, especially Taylor, but we know you are healthy and happy now. See you again someday.

Go figure

About a week ago, Cottonwood Heights was having a kids fair, with those bouncy-jumpy things, snacks, a "reptile guy" and Shrek 3 at dark. We decided to take Taylor, figuring she would love to play inside the Cinderella castle bouncy-thing (sorry, I don't know the official name for one of those things). We pay the two dollars admission and head toward the activities. As we get closer, Taylor starts to grip my hand a little tighter and begins reassuring herself that "everything will be fun". Being the nervous little goof she is, I decide to go inside the castle with her. Once inside, she screams and screams at the top of her lungs that she wants out. Pure embarrassment for me. We take her out and wander over to the "reptile man", who is showing kids a variety of snakes, including a boa constrictor that is 150 pounds and 14 feet long. Was she scared? Heavens no! It's just a snake, mom! A snake that could kill an adult I might add. She touched and petted that thing like it was a baby kitten. "Mom, feel how soft and silky his skin is!" And what about the smaller snake the kids could hold, you ask? Well, she wanted it around her neck. As it started to slither up her face, she was all smiles. Go figure. She hates oak leaves, but doesn't mind hanging out with a boa. Sometimes I can't figure this kid out.

Matt's graduation

Way to go, bro! We are very proud of you.

Thomas the Train

A couple of weeks ago Amber and I took our kids up to Heber for a ride on Thomas the Train. What an adventure it was! Despite the drama (mostly from MY child), a great experience was had by all. Thanks for the fun times Amber! Especially the greasy fries from Dairy Keen. We had an excellent time with you and your kiddos. And thanks for the tickets, Dad! Love you.

Wow!
