What a zoo! Summer 2010

Earlier this spring, we bought an annual family pass, so we were able to visit the Hogle Zoo several times AND bring a friend for Tay, which she loved. Pictured below are two of her most favorite friends, Coral and Taylor (yes, it is extremely hard to have two Taylor's at once. They never know who I'm talking to!) . I've promised all of them that we can visit the zoo again soon, but only after the weather cools down. The last time we went, it reached 100 degrees and Justyn swore he would never return again! He's a big fan of the hot weather. At least they had those fans that sprayed the mist...

Dance, dance, dance

Taylor had her annual dance recital at Kingsbury Hall on June 23rd and the theme was Beauty and the Beast. She did such a great job! Her class performed as the cups and saucers and it was so darling! Unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures with her whole costume on. They wore what looked like a big flower pot with the bottom cut out. It was handpainted and strapped onto their shoulders with ribbons...super cute! Here are a few pics... Proud of you, Tay!

Heber Valley Girls Camp 2010

Summer 2010 started out with girls camp June 1st through 4th. As most of you know, I would never win the World's Best Camper award, but this year at girl's camp was the most amazing, wonderful experience. Maybe it had something to do with the nice, furnished cabins, running water, showers, flushable toilets, etc? I actually have to attribute such a phemonenal camp experience to my wonderful leaders and even more to my fabulous young women. I couldn't ask for a better group of girls, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with each one of them. They will forever be my girls, even after I finish my work in the Young Women's organization. Here's to next year at camp...and if I have any say, we'll be staying in cabins again!

A few highlights from Spring 2010

As I am trying to get this blog caught up and current, I can't believe how quickly this year has gone by. It seems like the older I get, the faster and faster each year goes, and I am amazed that we are already into mid September.
Spring flew by for us. For Easter, we took a short trip to Las Vegas to enjoy the warmer weather, shop (obviously only Tay and I enjoyed that), and relax. We also took Taylor to see Beatles Love. You should have seen the look on her face when the show started! I think she was amazed that a cd she has been listening to for over a year could magically turn into a live production. I'm so glad that we were able to take her! Plus, that show could never get old for me~ I could see it over and over again. Here's a few pics (you know me, lots of pictures, few words...).

Tay's spring gymnastics recital... She did such a great job! Mom and dad were so proud!

In May, we cut 7 inches off Taylor's hair! After seeing this picture, it made me realize how long her hair really was! WoW!

Tay's spring Kindergarten recital (Her little buddy Greyson is to the right of her)
Dr. Valladares extracting one of Tay's many loose teeth (Thanks sis!). This girl knows how to lose teeth... Six teeth gone at age 5!
On Memorial Day, we took some time to visit a few cemetaries where our grandparents/great-grandparents were buried. Tay was so excited to pick out flowers for the headstones and it ended up being a wonderful afternoon.

A fabulous new addition

After my ~baby~ brother Mike returned from his mission July 2009, he met a wonderfully sweet and beautiful Karlee Karasko, and they were married on February 6th, 2010. We are so excited that Mike finally met the woman of his dreams and we are grateful to have her in our family! She is one of the most talented, bright, positive and energetic people I know. She even allowed both me and Christy to bribe her (and Mike) into running a half marathon with us in July 2010, and they left us in the dust! Here's a few pictures from the bridal shower and wedding day...
